About Us

Our Mission & Vision

If you’re feeling worn down by restrictive diets, short-term cleanses, weight cycling, or investing in supplements that promise results but are only short-term, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to keep doing it alone. That’s exactly why we exist. At our practice, we believe nutrition should support your life, not control it. In a world full of conflicting nutrition advice, diet trends, and influencer-driven rules, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or discouraged.

Our Mission is to make your nutrition simple, sustainable, and science-based. We do this by cutting through the noise to help you build a sustainable, healthy relationship with food that actually works for you and will ultimately produce those lasting results you're looking for.

Our Vision is to support lasting change and a healthy lifestyle. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that promotes health, fitness, and well-being while still allowing you to enjoy all foods. We believe all foods can have a place in a well-balanced diet without guilt or restriction. Food can help you reach your health and fitness goals, but it’s also meant to be experienced and enjoyed. Our Registered Dietitian is here to guide and walk alongside you as you build a sustainable lifestyle rooted in that balance.

Our Nutrition Approach

Our approach is all foods fit and evidence-based. That means we don’t rely on quick fixes or restrictive plans. Instead, we break down the latest nutrition trends using research and discuss science-based strategies that fit your lifestyle, preferences, and goals. We also believe in a "food-first" approach, meaning we primarily use whole foods to fuel our bodies, support muscle growth, and provide essential nutrients. With that said, we recognize that supplements can be a helpful addition to a personalized nutrition plan with guidance from our Registered Dietitian to ensure they are safe, effective, and align with your goals. Over time, we shift our focus away from calorie counting or the next diet trend and move toward long-term habits that are realistic for every day life.

Elizabeth Shorter, MS, RDN, LDN

I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, originally from Lewisburg, WV, and now living in Durham, NC. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Marshall University and completed both my Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology & Sports Nutrition and Dietetic Internship from Florida State University. I have combined experience in both the clinical and athletic populations and primarily work in weight management, menopause, general nutrition, sports nutrition, and intuitive eating. My modalities include personalized macros, accountability, meal planning, and supplement management. I am currently licensed to practice in North Carolina and West Virginia.

When I’m not talking about nutrition and exercise (though, it’s my passion), I’m usually reading, listening to music, exercising, thrifting, traveling, or trying new coffee shops in the Raleigh-Durham area.

Taylor Shorter, MS, ASCM-CEP

I’m a Clinical Exercise Physiologist with additional certifications in ACLS and group fitness instruction. I'm originally from Princeton, WV, and now living in Durham, NC. I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Exercise Science from Marshall University. My work experience includes clinical exercise testing, research, and working in cardiac rehabilitation, but primarily work with individuals with diabetes, metabolic disease, and weight management goals. My approach emphasizes preventive health, lifestyle modification, and personalized exercise prescription, recognizing that exercise is not one-size-fits-all and should be tailored to each individual.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, working out, trying new coffee shops, and playing volleyball and pickleball.
